Government extends GST Compensation levy upto March 2026

The Government of India has notified the GST (Period of Levy and Collection of Cess) Rules, 2022 vide CBIC Notification 01/2022 – Compensation Cess dated 24th June 2022 to extend the period for levy and collection of cess under sub-section (1) of section 8 of the Goods and Services Tax (Compensation to States) Act, 2017 till March 31, 2026.

The rules will be effective from 1st July 2022.
